Therapy in Adelaide
The goal of treatment is to decrease pain and increase function.
Stem Cell Therapy is done by performing liposuction of fat from the abdomen using a sterile technique. This is performed with a weak local anesthetic introduced into the subcutaneous layer of the abdomen (between the skin and the muscles). 20 minutes later approximately 60 -0120 ml of fat is aspirated by liposuction. The fat is then processed over the next hour to produce stem cells in a laminar flow cabinet with an extremely fine filter of 0.3u – minimising the chance of contamination. The stem cells are then placed into a syringe and then injected in a s sterile manner into the appropriate affected joint or soft tissue.
